I have af and had my third ablation Aug. 17. Saw consultant on 9.1 and he cut my beta blockers from 5 to 2.5 a day. Since then I have had two episodes of rapid heart rate.
Spoke to cardiac nurse and she suggested ablation no, 4. Has anyone had this many and did it eventually cure the problem?

How do you know you had AF? I think it quite wrong of your nurse to suggest this without proper testing and a seven day monitor to see exactly what is going on. Rapid heart rate is not necessarily AF and is more likely to be atrial tachycardia which is not unknown after ablation and should respond to cardioversion.
I agree with Bob. Rapid heart rate is more likely to be Atrial Tachycardia but you need to get an ECG done whilst it is happening.
Regards the number of ablations, I had 6 for AF and a 7th for the Atrial Tachycardia that had developed after the 6th.
That took place on August 20th and apart from Ectopics and some fast short lived heart runs my heart has been behaving itself for the first time in many years.
So the advice is to get an ECG done when you next experience the symptoms and then get to see your EP ASAP.
I know every case is unique, but I am battling somewhat the same issue. My last ablation was 11/17, and my EP said to cut my beta blocker 4 weeks after that. Apparently I have a bad case of beta blocker withdrawal which causes the now unblocked adrenaline to increase my HR. I have had to go back on the Nadolol as my resting HR will go to 118 by the third day without it, but back to 86 with it.
