I am new here and joined as I am very nervous about under going ablation.
I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with AVNRT almost two years ago.
I have my pre ablation appointment next Wednesday and was wondering whether anyone could tell me what this would involve please? Also, how long did it take everyone to recover after the abalation? I am very independent and won't like resting for long 
No need to worry the ablation is only a procedure not really an op.You will have to stay in over night and you might have a little pain in your groin for a while.Recovery is a bit different,you can not rush it,it takes quite a few months you have to take it slowly,I started just walking after a couple of weeks extending the distance over a few weeks,but as Bob will tell you he would sooner have an ablation than go to the dentist.Good luck it will soon be over and remember take it easy for a few weeks

Re pre-ablation appointment. They will weigh you,take your blood pressure, do an ECG and then use a swab ( like a cotton wool bud ) to check that you have no pathogenic bacteria at the top of your leg. They will advise you about shaving and what they require ( I'm not particularly hairy and didn't have to do anything )
After the actual ablation you will have to lie down for about 4 hours. Take your phone, book and anything else to keep you occupied. Also have paper hankies, lip salve, sweets, banana, cereal bars, drink and anything else you might need to hand.
If you don't rest, rest, rest then you will undo all their work. You heart has been burnt and needs time to heal. Give it 3 months for complete healing.
The general advice from those of us who have been there is TV remote only week 1 and week 2 you can make the tea. It can take three to six months for the heart to fully recover so please take it easy and don't be tempted to go running marathons or anything silly like that.
It is worth mentioning that you should not be allowed home alone or travel on public transport and of course will not be allowed to drive for a few days so best prepare a friend or relative. Good idea to fill your freezer with some ready meals as well.
You've been given plenty of advice so I can only repeat about not going too mad with exercise etc too soon . As you are only 22 you could be tempted to do too much sooner than is wise.
As for a visit to the dentist being worse.....give me the dentist any day...at least you can keep your clothes on 🤔

I am 3 weeks post Ablation now and the procedure itself wasn't too bad. My advice is to really take it easy as others have said. It's tempting to act normal a couple weeks after but you pay for it - I'm still getting eptopics and pvcs which started last week. Rest rest rest. You will be fine all the best
it's best to research this as your ablation involves different areas of the heart from those who have AF. One article suggests there is a 97 per cent success rate- very different from ablations people have here for AF.
Babies sometimes are ablated too! Best to read- lots of info online.
