Hi, ive been really unwell since july with what ive recently found out has been blood clots in my lungs & my AF has been so out of control until i was put on flecanaide 6 weeks ago. I still have some episodes & get pretty breathless at times but im still waiting on cardio appt, how long did any of you wait?

It depends on where you live. Have you tried asking for a cancellation? Are you going to see an Electrophysiologist as apposed to a general Cardiologist?

Who did you see to get a prescription for flecainide? GPs aren't allowed to prescribe it here.

Jenny raises an important point. Hopefully, you were prescribed Flecainide by a Cardiologist six weeks ago which makes your question a bit surprising. We are not medically trained, but we understand it is potentially very dangerous to take Flecainide without supervision, so please bear this in mind if you have acquired it by another source. Clearly you have some health problems, so maybe your GP could accelerate you appointment with a cardiologist, but waiting times are so variable around the country, it's impossible to say how long you may have to wait. Would a private appointment be an option??

I was intravenously cardioverted with flecanaide 3 n hlf years ago then put on atenolol which was fine up until july, chopping & changing my medication has been a pain & my doctor reckons it been my AF thats caused the blood clots in lungs but i had swollen feet etc on holidat & never been right since then. I had a few breathless episodes whilst in malta but i put it all down to the heat so i dont know but doctors should have had me on anti cougulants long before now but they said i didnt need it & now theyre all like stepping on broken egg shells with me & paramedics have told me to make an official complaint as lots of trips to a&e & they just kept sending me home thinking it was just anxiety even though i told them every time about my feet & leg etc swelling up on holiday but they still didnt bat an eye. I would really like to have a wee drink xmas day & new year but dont think that'll be happening now as still no appt. Thankyou for your reply
