Can one see a GP privately and remain an NHS patient?

I think so as you can arrange a private medical with them for a HGV license and get private prescriptions at a cost
Thank you. I'm fed up of being fobbed off, patronised and dismissed by my GP. Was referred back to him by cardiology nurse.
I don't have the answer to your original question, but since one can see a consultant privately and stay on their NHS list for treatment I guess you can probably do the same with a GP.
Maybe just consider changing your GP if you are not happy with him?
When I say GP, I mean all the GPs at my surgery. I've had lots of problems with my stomach along with problems with my Afib medication an so have been a frequent visitor to the surgery. I don't know, maybe I've lost credibility with then but I'm really unhappy with their attitude lately.
Oh dear, that's a shame. What I actually meant, but didn't make clear, is ..... are you able to register with another/different GP practice? I know this may not be possible especially if you don't live in an urban area with more than one practice. I live in a small town served by two GP practices and when I moved here I could definitely have registered with either one of them. How easy it would be to change to the other one now I'm afraid I don't know.
I do hope you find a solution.
When I asked for a referral to a private EP once, the GP said that if I went private and then came back to the NHS I could only do that once, or something like that, I couldn't keep swapping maybe. It made no sense to me. I told my EP who said she was wrong, BUT he also said there was something to it and that he understood why the GP had said what she said.
So might be worth checking thoroughly the interaction between private/NHS?

Thank you, I'll try to find more information. Just hard to find a source for this information.
I would try another GP...I see two different gp,s at the same pratice...one for the heart issues and another for my other ailments as the latter gp hasnt a clue on heart issues
I have seen private GPs and not mentioned it to my own GP practice who do not approve but were difficult to see. I think they get sent a note of my visit and any treatment. GPs can always remove you from their list but I understand you are obliged to be passed to another by the NHS in that case. You should expect more attention from a private GP but take a list of meds and short history.
