Just announced - Apple watch to track AF - 11/30/17

Just announced and one of the reasons I have been an Apple investor is I knew they were making inroads towards wearable medical devices as part of their future. My Fitbit while nice, as all other wearable devices does nothing for AF tracking. Soon to be available!

Good to know. I actually had to quit wearing my Fitbit as I was obsessing over my heart rate.. honestly my family called me out on it. I was quite anxious about my A-Fib and looking at my heart rate constantly was ridiculous and just made me more anxious 😟. I had an ablation 10 months ago and have been doing very well ( touch wood).. congrats on your stock!

Victoria, I just upgraded to the Charge 2 and it is an inexpensive and elegant piece now that does more then previously. I use it as a watch, heart beats for exercising and it does an admirable job of tracking sleep patterns.. We had our ablations around the same time.

Had 2 fitbits which both fell apart within 12 months - not an unusual experience evidently.

I have just bought the Apple Watch which I wish I had bought in the first place as would have been better value long term!

I also look forward to trying it but I won’t be happy if I have to buy another one! Hope it will be an update.

I find fitbits useless for tracking HR unless you are stationary and they certainly won’t tell you if you are in AFIB.

Get an Alivecor Kardia device and download app on your iPhone!

In the past Ive used polar sports watch and chest strap to monitor my heartrate

it may be a fairly basic way but it did the job perfectly for me, especially when if Af ..how erratic my heart was, could see the HR reading all over the place, no wonder I felt so ill,

thankfully had abalation four years ago...touch wood all ok..

I have loved Apple since the days when computer memory was measured in kB, so this may be the excuse I need to get an Apple Watch! Thanks for the info - congratulations on the stock, I've never had the funds to invest but they're a great company.

They are a great company and very forward looking. OMG do I remember kb's and the early days of computing. Been a Mac guy since 1991 or a nerd with muscles as my friends say. . . smile.

You might want to checkout the other big news today with the AppleWatch, Alivecor's clearance of the KardiaBand to go with the AppleWatch.

Try an Alivecor Kardia device. Look it up. You just send off for device and download the app on your iPhone. Gives you an instant reading and diagnosis. It logs your history for you and gives you a journal to keep also provides UK EP diagnosis which you can mail direct to EP or others. You will track your arrhythmia within a minute and know exactly what rhythm and rate you are doing. It’s very reassuring. Good luck.

I'm sure Apple is working on this feature to make it right.

The new KardiaBand does though

While I was in hospital recently I was interested to see that their observations of my HR, SATS, BP and temperature coincided with the sort of measurements I usually get with my Fitbit and other home monitoring equipment.
