Yes I do, just yest kardia said normal and pulse jumping from 65 to 80 in a minutes recording. Usual resting pulse 65. I don't have an answer as to why though. I think our hearts once we have af causes a lot and affects our whole system in a way we understand little about.

Yes and I think we become very aware of any change in the way we feel but I have been in nsr since march

I average a cardioversion every year, for the past 4 yrs, my pulse at rest runs 80-95. my Dr. has me on amerodone 400 mg. per day. When I wake up during the night I can't fall back to sleep because my heart is pounding so hard it keeps me up until I reach exhaustion from sleep deprivation. Oh I forgot about the 2 ablations, my Dr. is excited to do another, he must make good money doing them

Yes, I think it may have something to do with the vagus nerve being irritated. There may be nutritional and other remedies. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Too technical for me, I'm afraid. Does anyone want to sum it up, please?

The trick is, you get your dr to read it! My dr is very knowledgeable about supplements (most drs aren't) and I have sent it to her. I'll pass on anything I learn that's relevant to AF.

However I do read a lot of research papers so will take a quick stab at this one.

The abstract suggests that "Administration of dietary lipids has been shown to be very effective in reducing the inflammatory cascade and maintaining intestinal barrier integrity in several experimental studies. This beneficial effect of nutrition on the inflammatory response and intestinal barrier integrity opens new therapeutic opportunities for treatment of certain gastrointestinal disorders."

Even if you don't understand the details, you want to find out more about dietary lipids. What are they specifically? What do people take them for? Are there downsides? Where can I get them?

The results section can tell you more about exactly what they found. This paper doesn't label results as such, so you look down to the specific paragraph about NUTRITIONAL STIMULATION OF THE AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM, which suggests that dietary lipids are good for our digestive system and the vagus nerve.

As for which lipids may need to be supplemented, a dr would have to advise you. Spectracell Labs is one lab that will test patient blood for micronutrients so you can see if you are deficient in anything.

I looked for research on atrial fibrillation and lipids and found one study that tried giving patients alpha lipoic acid (ALA) after abalation. THey conclude that "ALA therapy reduces serum levels of common markers of inflammation in ablated patients. Nevertheless, ALA does not prevent AF recurrence after an ablative treatment." I can't see how much they gave or for how long. Maybe tweaking those variables might change the outcome. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/282...

Some research has looked at the role of vitamin D in heart disease generally and AF specifically. The jury is still out but many Americans are deficient in vit D.

Thank you, Ajitriturado. Helps me a lot. I 'm going to enquire of my GP about blood tests for necessary nutrients. Thank you for being so helpful.

Yes peeing it is a normal symptom of being in AF. I am in persistant AF so do not always have symtoms other than peeing a lot. I think I read on here recently that the heart produces something that makes it want to get rid of fluid. I think it might have been in one of Bob's posts.

I have had only two (known) attacks of AF, and yes, I have been peeing a lot when NOT in AF. Part of the problem is the anxiety caused by knowing you have this condition, and have become aware of your heart beating. The anxiety makes me weak and shaky at times. Anxiety about any other problems in my life also make me aware of my heart beat, and then I wonder if I'm going into AF again. Part is that one of the main ways to fight AF is to stay well hydrated, so I am drinking more.

As others say, everyone is different. This is my experience.

It was every 15 minutes when in fast AF (136-200bpm). I thought it was purely due to speeding up the metabolism.

I found drinking a sport drink everyday makes my heart happier. I drink sis go hydro. It has electrolytes. I still pee loads at night even in NSR.
