Just started solatol (80 mg twice a day) after being on digoxin and .25 toloxin. Very sleepy - does this go away after time?

I don't think it is recommended by NICE now- worth checking with doctor if it's the best thing for you
In UK Sotalol is seldom used as it is no longer recommended by NICE although one or two cardiologists may still use it. The drug has both beta blocker and anti arrhythmic functions but at doses which are anti-arrhythmic it can in some cases cause unwanted ventricular rhythms which is why it was dropped as a general drug for AF
I have been on Sotalol for about 3 months now, does make you very tired. Does go away after awhile. When I first took it I couldn't even walk down the driveway. So tired at work, red eyes, feel just exhausted but it did slow my heart rate very hi Afib after an Albaltion that didn't work as well as we hoped. Going to the Cleveland clinic nest week to hopefully get off Sotalol. Did help my afib, now not as much.
I too am surprised that you are on Sotalol.
I was prescribed it many years ago but it made me feel very lethargic and more unwell than the AF. I was unable to tolerate it. In all the years since the word Sotalol has never been mentioned to me.
It never ceases to amaze me how the treatments for AF vary from "expert" to "expert" both in the UK and the wider world.
This only goes to show just how difficult it is to remedy.

I was prescribed Sotalol by my EP last year when I developed atrial flutter after an ablation, he told me it was particularly good for that. Unfortunately it didn't help me, but I have to say Flecainide did.

Hi Berlynn03, I found that with sotalol that I felt very tired initially, for about a week, and then the tiredness improved after that.
Im on the same dose since my AF began last year. My EP prescribed Sotalol, 80mg twice a day. I was a it surprised after reading about its use on here.
Initially I was not tired, but six months in I am so sleepy of a morning.
Problem is I no longer see my consultant, don't know if GP will change med.
I was on Sotalol for quite a few years , morning nausea and feeling exhausted to the point of falling asleep mid afternoon was always there. You maybe different but I would be proactive and see another Cardiologist - go private if need be. The difference from being on Sotalol to being on the right drug is life changing in my case.
It's definitely good for atrial flutter, but it only slow the rate down rather than stops afib for me though
The tiredness will pass after a few weeks
