A few things- I have changed my medication to taking bisoprolol before bed, I was taking 17.5mg in the morning, but felt wiped out all day. Swapping to the evening has changed my life, I now only need 10mg daily, with a 2.5 top up if stressed. I can do my job without feeling exhausted, I am sleeping better and the af has reduced in intensity and amount of episodes.
I now recognise that my diet plays a huge part in how often I get an episode. Smaller meals, low fat low sugar means I am less bloated and af is lessened (with the evening dose change too)
I have had an echocardiogram and a angiogram, just waiting for results and what the treatment will be.
Lastly, I am going on a long awaited holiday to the USA, but getting travel insurance is a nightmare, the cost is ridiculous, I obviously need good insurance, but is there a company that does it at a reasonable price. I am a nurse, not a millionaire

I also changed the times I take my beta blockers to evening time, i also feel less tired through the day.
I'm having a ablation on the 17th August so hoping it puts a stop to my daily attacks and I can revisit my medicines with a view to having them reduced.
As for insurance I'm afraid you will be stung for having a heart issue but try bhf for recommendations.
Thanks for that tip Il change my bisoprolol times & see if it helps...I had to have AV node ablation..it was the only way to contol things & it really was the best thing ever even tho Im youngish (58)I have a pacemaker now & although in PAF my quality of life is better I dont feel the AF anymore. Its a last resort but if you are faced with it like me then go for it
I have just took out an annual policy with Staysure. £200. I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, PAF, atrial flutter and I am only 6 weeks post ablation I also had a TIA last August. Policy is for Europe only but worth giving them a ring. 😀
i have an annual policy with Flexicover for the States... it costs me about £500 but it is an annual policy and obviously I declared my ablation and all the meds I take.... maybe worth looking at, but vital to have excellent medical cover when travelling to the USA as their medical costs are prohibitive!
