Hi Suzy,
No AF, but an increase in number of palpitations. My AF is controlled by meds and diet.
Hi
Yes mine are normally controlled by meds, but for some reason started getting Attacks again, i had a Cryoblation a yr ago which helped at first, now getting problems again 😕seems to have got worse with it being very warm,

AFib flares up in both temperature extremes, hot and cold. In the cold it is because the heart has to work harder, and in the heat it is often due to dehydration, so drink plenty of water and stay cool!
Hi
thank you the Doctor mentioned Dehydration could be doing it, I always take a glass of water to bed with me but I must admit I don't drink enough in day, Suzy
Oh yes - me too! I have been taking a big glass of water up to bed with me to keep drinking if I wake up during the night in an attempt to keep the night time AF episodes at bay. I'm sure it is the heat causing dehydration which sets it off!
Heat sets mine off, but because of my heart failure I'm limited to 1300 MLS fluid per day so no way of assuaging my thirst when that quantity is consumed!
Suzy, I had my big AF episode on the hottest day in 2012 after feeling thirsty and drinking an ice slushy drink.
Now I drink plenty. Never wait to feel thirsty, that's a sign that you're already dehydrated. Also beware of extremely cold drinks.

That's interesting. I was eating an ice cream and went into AF. This has happened twice. Ice cream is now off the menu!
Yes the heat definitely makes me prone to a.f. hate the heat! I do drink a lot of water but still feel useless.
Thankfully this year my recent ablation is keeping AF at bay, but I do get a lot more palpitations in the heat,
Last year I had two big AF attacks, one in July when I was at a rock concert, venue was really hot but I drank loads of water so I know I wasn't dehydrated . THe second in August on holiday, the one hot day we had in Devon + I had really bad toothache . again I don't think it was dehydration as I drank loads of water all day.
The toothache may have set off the AF - poisons from bad teeth very quickly reach the heart . . .
Mike that's interesting that you were at a concert when you had an attack.
I have had a couple of experiences at concerts myself where I could feel the music vibrations so deeply within me, I felt it was affecting my heart rhythm and I had to walk out for a while. Pretty tame concerts too, not rock (David Cassidy 🙊 And The Eagles).
I avoid them now.
You will find evidence online for people listening to regular heartbeat sounds to go back into nsr.
My husband has a very strong regular heart rate and I've woken in the night before with tachycardia(not for a long time 🤞🏻) and put my ear to his chest, concentrating on the rhythm. I was sure it helped me return to nsr.

Suzy- Check your water temperature! I have twice had Afib episodes immediately upon taking a large gulp of ice water!
