Bradycardia

I am currently having a bout of bradycardia. For the past 3 hours my bp has been rather low for me as I am normally struggling with the aid of medication to keep it down to a reasonable level. Right now bp is 100/49 pulse is 38 bpm. It has been down as low as 35 bpm. This is something that happens quite regularly. I had an episode in March when I was taken in to hospital. After being told at midnight that I was going to be kept in overnight I was then discharged at 1am. My wife who was quite exhausted went home at midnight & I explained to the doctor that my wife wasn't well enough to come back for me. Before I knew what was happening they called for a taxi to take me the 20 miles to my home. I also overheard them saying that I might require the driver to stop at a cash machine. Having previously told me not to stand or move about as I was at risk of a heart attack. The taxi fair £60 & the hospital will not refund it even though I have a very limited income. As I'm sure you will understand I am reluctant to go back to the hospital. I have an appointment with a cardiologist next Thursday 13th July. Should I make the call or knowing that these events are quite regular, wait until next Thursday?

That is really bad of the hospital to treat you that way. I would hope there is literally a rule against it. I totally understand your dilemma on the matter.

However, I'm not sure it's fair to ask people here whether you should go to hospital or not. Only you are in possession of all your personal details and circumstances to make that decision.

The only other thing I can think of is dialling 111 and getting a medical opinion on the matter. (I imagine they are likely to err on the side of caution and bring you in tho).

Hi UScore, I wrote a reply earlier but I cant see it in the thread. Apologies. Things settled down shortly after posting and my pulse began to get a little higher. I have just checked my bp again & it is now 130/67 with pulse at 69. I will go to see my gp tomorrow. I think he is likely to tell me that unless I get a low again then wait for my cardiology appointment next week.

Glad to hear you are ok. Sounds sensible to go to the gp

Just realised this was 5 hours ago. Hope everything is ok. Let us know what you did.

I think you should make a call to 111 and get advice but you should not be treated the way you were before.

Good to hear.

Always difficult to comment when a post such as your one appears.

I have suffered Bradycardia as low as yours on numerous occasions but if it is coupled with low blood pressure it is definitely worth getting it checked out.

It is not a pleasant feeling is it?
