Hello everyone ,

i'm glad i found this website , my name is David and am 33 years old . I would like to share my experience with AF and get along with some with the same experience . Last Thursday i was sleeping , and suddenly i woke up at 2 am and the Afib started with 200 and more bpm and i had to go to the hospital and they cardio-verse me and thank god the rhythm went back to normal . My first one was 15 years back and i was stressed and was smoking shisha before i had it . after that i saw a cardiologist and we made a lot of tests like echo cardiogram and blood test for thyroid but everything went back negative no sign of normality in the heart or the thyroid and i was on holter for 48 hours that time and result went back normal . the same tests i have done lately and also nothing is showing any anomaly in the heart or valves . i was having since then some skipped beats but i was back to normal totally after the first one .

i know i am writing a lot maybe but just to describe my experience and to get some assurance maybe from more experience people in this frustrating thing . i dunno if it may come or what is the possibility of coming or it may just come occasionally , i know you cannot know but maybe you have an idea .

Thank you and have a great day

AF tends to be a progressive condition so yes it is likely that you will have another event at some point, leading to more etc. The more you have the more you will get in other words.

If you go to AF Association main website you will find loads of useful information about AF and the treatment for it but do ask any questions and we will try to help.

Hi Bob ,

Thank you for your reply . so you think it'll likely be repeated in the near futur ? or it may take sometime ? i stopped all caffeine and soft drinks and these things .

There are those for whom a change in lifestyle such as you suggest has been most effective in reducing AF events. A reduction in processed food and especially meat and a more plant based diet has worked for some but this is such a mongrel condition. No alcohol goes without saying obviously. The fact is you have AF so you will get AF unless an ablation stops all the rogue pathways. ALL treatment for AF is only about improving quality of life (QOL) after all.

Hi David, sorry to hear that you are experiencing A/F, its not nice and can be very scary and yes, if it goes on too long then hospital is the only place to go where you can be assessed and treated. I too started the same way, had all the tests and was reassured that there was no heart disease or other specifics that would cause A/F however lifestyle and stress is an over riding factor as this condition is exacerbated by stress. As this condition is caused by an electrical imbalance in the heart the Cardiologists will try you on beta blockers to see if they can control it. So, have a look at your lifestyle, some simple adjustments may be necessary i.e. I won't eat a meal after 7.0 p.m. at night, I couldn't lay on my left hand side and so on, a process of elimination to see if you can find any triggers will help. There is lots of information on this group and its members I have found will share their experiences, some have the condition with greater severity than others. The Medical Profession are making great strides all the time and hopefully will come up with the right balance for each individual sufferer so always remain positive and hopefully this won't become a regular part of your life for some time to come, the important thing is not to worry about it.
