Hi do you also have AF? Anxiety can be hard but try and find some positives. What treatments have been suggested for the things you've been diagnosed with. It may not be as scary as you think. It's a lot at once but try not to dwell on the negatives

I dont know about AF. I was just told that i have left artery abnormality. I have severe palpitation with the anxiety so im on carvedilol 6.25mg. Is that the same thing as AF?

in reply to Zeemtukur

I asked as this is an AF forum which is Atrial Fibbrillation . AF is different than anxiety

Hi there

Do not worry too much about the glaucoma. I have this and AF. I had glaucoma before AF was diagnosed. Has laser treatment been suggested for your eye problem. I have had this and it seems to have sorted the problem, this was 8 years ago. I was also prescribed two lots of eye drops, too be honest I was good at using them for the first year or so but got a bit remiss after that. Sometime I did sometimes not. Last check up with consultant last December, all was well, no deteriation and dropped to one eye drop. Take care.

I have had glaucoma for nearly 29 years. So far very easy to treat with eye drops and 6 monthly check ups.

Tanx. Thats reassuring. Im 44. And i fear ill go blind. They told me my left eye is really affected but that my left eye is just beginning. But ive not noticed any vision loss yet. I worry also in case of surgery i may need anaesthesia. Im hypertensive and fear my drugs will interact with the anaesthesia

I was about your age when I was diagnosed during a routine eye test. Yes, I panicked to begin with but all has been ok so far. Mine is inherited. I don't really notice it except for misjudging side distances occasionally eg stubbing my toe and latterly driving at night is more difficult. I had had numerous GA's with no problems, as the anaesthetist takes everything into consideration. Just talk to them about your fears.

I am a real skeptic about vitamins. But, a few years ago I researched Glaucoma (I have a very rare type) and several reputable sources said, Vitamin B complex. So, nothing to lose since it is cheap especially using supermarket brands, I started taking one tablet daily (must never overdo supplements). A year later, the ophthalmologist spontaneously remarked, 'this is strange, your eyes have improved'.

I am now at the state where I self monitor. I do the visual fields check once a year, and I am supposed to get the eye pressure measured, then only seek a doctor if there is a change.

Glaucoma is related to the heart. If your blood pressure is too low, then this increases the pressure in the eye. Glaucoma treatment seeks to keep the eye pressure low.

Thank you very much. Ill try the vitamin B

Can I ask what Vitamin B complex you use

Tesco Vitamin B Complex so that I get all the types of Vitamin B. Sometimes they have a three-for-two offer. Two years ago they used to sell it in packs of 240. Last year the pack sizes were smaller and the price was similar I think (grr). I love Marmite, so the days I use Marmite I do not bother with a supplement.

I go along with cassie46. Nothing nasty or scary about glaucoma treatment. I've had it for twenty odd years and for some reason the various eye drops began to make my eyes sore and irritated. Recently had a laser treatment in both eyes (a doddle - not painful at all) to hopefully reduce the pressure. Awaiting results at the moment. Try not to let things pile in on top of you. One day at a time.....

me again

as with Dadog the laser treatment is quick and no anesthetic. My eyes have not deteriorted since I had this treatment which was quite a few years ago. It actually makes a hole in each eye to drain the fluid. As I said before I was erractic with the drops. sometimes not using them for months, but all eye tests have been good.

PS - I had more pressue problems in my left eye, right was not so bad. I had gone to my optition for a normal eye test on a Saturday , she found the pressure test was very high and I had to go to A & E that morning. Given drugs and eye drops, it was that bad it was suggested that I stay hospital that day but was let home. Hd to back again the next day, just to see how things were and told to come in on Monday. Laser surgery was done that day. No after effects and pressure has stated low since then.
