My AF journey has, like most on here, been a real pig! Being in AF is debilitating and the drugs , so far, have been awful (Biprorolsol and Amiodarone).
The next thing I have to face is rate control drugs and I wondered if anyone has been on them and how do they make you feel? Does anyone get a normal life back on these drugs?
Bisoprolol is a rate control drug. 2.5 reduces my heart rate from 80 to about 65. My rhythm control drug is flecainide. I was started on 50 twice daily. Post-ablation I use 100 as a pill in the pocket. I have had no obvious side effects from it but others have reported difficulties with it.
You may need to try different drugs until you find one that suits you. From memory Koll tried 3.
Yes I figured I could live with whatever during the day to try and see if it made any difference. I did off my own bat. But you could leave a message at surgery to ask GP if ok
I was very drowsy on Bisoprolol but much better on Nebivolol - it costs more so isn't normally given at first but I only take a small dose (5mg) and it reduces my rate from base 85ish to 65ish and when in AF I don't usually go above 125. I tried Flecainide but again side effects and it didn't stop the AF. I also take Rivaroxaban which doesn't seem to give me any problems.
I was just told to drop it to 5mg (from 10mg). I also take mine at night as it helps with the lethargy
