Salt intake......
Ever ever thought it would, but then I never, ever read the Mail.
Interesting! Thank you for making us aware of this report Steve.
That's interesting. Thanks for posting the link. There's quite a lot there that makes sense to me/my own experience. However it does make life difficult for the non-scientist, does it not? First it was 'eggs are bad for you', then 'fat is bad for you', then 'salt is bad for you', now 'sugar is bad for you'. The message that gets through to the general public is inevitably a simplistic interpretation of research and most of us are incapable of (properly) evaluating the original paper/s - well I am.
In future I think I am just going to go with my grandma's (b.1889) sayings: 'everything in moderation' and 'a little bit of what you fancy does you good'
As a baby I had Pink's Disease, medical-dictionary.thefreed... you never hear of it now, I survived, lots of babies didn't, what was different in my diet? Rich in potassium (salt), with Pink's disease you body leeches out salt, leading to death. My Mum listened to a wise old doctor, feed her food that is rich in salt. Bananas and for some reason Mum mashed up pumpkin and added salt to it I love savoury foods, have normal blood pressure. i have been part of a follow up study all through my life and i think Mum listening to her doctor, prevented me from developing other symptoms. I do have SVT, very rarely now since removing all the stress factors from life (ones I can control), apart from that I am tickey boo. I love salt.
My mother died at 86 and she literally used to have what the rest of us used to describe as 'food with her salt' !!
