Has anyone else had this? My chest felt like my heart was racing mot of today, but my pulse in my wrist felt normal (if a bit uneven). At times I felt really awful and, I'm not sure how to describe this, but as if something was about to happen.

Strange feeling in chest
Hi Paddinton, we recently discussed this situation you are describing on the forum. It is possible for the pulse in the wrist to not correspond with what the heart is actually doing. I bought a stethoscope so that I would always know how my heart was beating and a lot of people have bought the Kardia appliance which records the heart rate in the finger tips and gives a quite accurate picture of the heart rhythm in an ECG form. My wrist pulse was in my normal early 60's when in fact my heart was racing at around three times that rate.
With paroxysmal AF you can certainly feel the way you describe. When I have it I can lead a fairly normal life - so long as I don't want to move!!! Then I feel quite ill and breathless.
Hope this helps.

I have recently experienced this to Heart racing away but pulse about 48 Went to GP and had a blood test which revealed I had hypothyroidism I am on Amiodorone and it is thought this could have been the trigger Take care
I cannot find a pulse in my wrist but I can find my carotid pulse in my neck easily. I wonder how they differ bearing in mind that your neck is closer to your heart than is your wrist.
Use the middle finger on your right hand to locate it, half way down your neck to the left of your oesophagus.
I can feel my heart pounding but my pulse rate is usually normal and certainly within the normal range. Often if I am full of food a bit bloated. Also if a bit nervous or anxious. No idea if it means anything??
