May I vent?

I have been on this journey off and on since 1980.....I am sick of doctors but my EP has changed my quality of life and I am so grateful but since I fainted one time my EP is sending me to a new cardiologist because my 24 hour monitor came out fine and they want me to take all these tests over again which means lots of hours in waiting rooms, pain of tests, etc. I am thinking they are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I only fainted once. Lots of people faint. My husband is forcing me to keep the appointment.

What do you think?

Definitely keep it. I used to feel dizzy, it bothered me, I took the medication route. I was signed up to an ablation but then I fainted - just the once - just over 5 weeks ago - and I had a cardiac arrest. You are better safe than sorry! My outcome of that faint is I really truly feel bloody lucky to be alive! I've since had an ablation, pacemaker, medication and another ablation to follow. I am scared stiff of fainting ever ever again. Not everyone will have my out one who faints but you asked for opinions. Good luck with your decision.

I feel I might be a bit concerned if the boot was on the other foot and you had fainted and everyone was saying take no notice of it and don't bother with your appointments.

I think be grateful you are receiving attention, given that the comments on this forum are often that the lack of treatment or the difficulty in getting is more usual. Take all the help that is offered.

That was a blackout, not a faint! I understand your feelings but you are lucky it is being taken seriously.

I don't know what the difference of blackout and faint but one minute I was working in the kitchen and when I woke up I was flat on my back on the kitchen floor. My husband said I couldn't have been out long before he heard me crying. I appreciate your advice.

I agree, faint and black out are different. I have fainted while pregnant, but had cardiac arrest when given Tikosyn. They are totally different! Fainting I was dizzy, cardiac arrest had only seconds of warning that included a feeling of being sedated.

Grab it with both hands - we don't faint for no reason. Of course you are fed up with tests and results and all the rest, but listen to your husband - he is right. xx

Was the fainting drug related? Because antiarrhymic drugs can cause fatal side effects. I had a cardiac arrest caused by Tikosyn. Beware that these drugs are toxic. I was blessed that it was given in a hospital setting and Arkansas Heart Hospital....

For all us with Afib 24 hour heart monitor may not find anything. Best to have monitor for longer. I'm wearing a Zio XT for 2 weeks. It is very small and easy to wear for 2 weeks. Im in the US. The Zio XT is one of the easiest heart monitors that I have worn. Best to get all recommended tests and find out what is going on.

If you were to faint again, then you'd be really worried! Best to get it checked while you have the opportunity. Let us know how you get on please.
