Effects of stroke

yes AF strokes are said to be the worst by stroke consultants i know t- I don't know whether it's because the clots can sit in the LAA - presumably getting bigger and then are shifted out into the circulation- maybe some one medically trained will answer!!

AF related strokes account for 80% of the worst and least recoverable strokes which may be 20% of all strokes. . This is due to the size of the clots formed in the heart being able to block off a larger area of blood supply. Clots formed in arteries do not have room to grow as large. This is why antocagulation is so important in AF.
I had just an AF related TIA. I'm left with constant troubles from it, but it could've been so much worse. Although I moan about my hearing, balance, tinnitus, and facial numbness, I'm very lucky!!

My mom had massive stroke caused by AFIB. They didn't think she'll survive or will regain her left side but it's all slowly coming back.
Was she on blood thinners
