Anyone have experience of Losartan

My doctor has switched me over to Losartan to treat my high blood pressure, as the Ramipril I was on was making me cough. Anyone have experience of using this and does it cause weight gain. I have recently lost one stone in weight and I don't want to put weight back on.

I switched to it from Lisinopril for the same reason about three years ago. No problems.

Rellim - did that stop the cough - I was put on somthing else recently which gave me bad side effects. I went back to Ramipril but Lisinopril was mentioned but I think I saw on the side effects that that can cause a cough to. Maybe I will have to try them.

Yes, the cough went away. Lisinopril is a cheap drug I think. It's known to produce a cough for some people so doctors go for it to start with and if the patient complains about the cough something more expensive can be considered!

Thanks, Relim. Will definitely give it a go. I can always go back on the Ramipril, and put up with the cough, if I don't get on with Losartan. After losing a stone to help with my BP I don't want to put it back on.

Been on Losartin for a few years now,both 25mgs and latterly 50 mugs - no problems!

Thanks Annewk. My dr has given me 50 mg. Losartan. Will give it a try and just monitor my weight closely. I would hate to put weight back on.
