Tom Utley the Daily Mil writer has just found that he has AF. No doubt we will be having many follow up articles on it from him after his hospital visit today and 24 hour monitor

That will probably raise the profile and number fo articles quiet a bit.

I'm sure that Hidden or the press team at the Alliance will follow up especially with AF Aware Week from 21 to 27 November coming up!!!!

It'll be interesting to see if he tackles the very obvious lifestyle indicators.

Journalists are not renowned for a healthy lifestyle.

Back in 1995 when I developed BPH a journalist on either the Telegraph or the Guardian was researching treatments and their consequences for himself. I learnt a lot from his series and so refused a TURP and waited for better options. The Urologist I was seeing asked me for copies of the articles.

I wouldn't dirty my hands reading the Daily Mail

My father used to buy the Daily Mail and the Daily Worker.

Are you one of the ones whose hatred of it goes back to before you were born because of supposed German sympathies. The question I ask ones with your dislike of it is which paper do you read. Usually it is The Grauniad.

Almost certainly due to immigrants or "benefits scroungers".

I don't understand the connection with the article.

It is in the Mail and the “Corbynistas" don't like it.

If you cannot quote from a news item of interest to members it shows the future in the extremely remote chance they ever get any power.

It is not the way this group operates and I'm not going to continue in this conversation with them.

No way am I going to read the daily fail or the scum, well, any newspaper really. Corrupt and insiting hatred , no thanks

Where does one now get unbiased news ?

I honestly think one doesn't - there is always a spin or an agenda in photos and articles. Reading about the same item across the spectrum gives an idea of what might be going on but was it Ghandi when asked if he thought the French Revolution had been a success answered 'it's too soon to tell'.

Most of us believe the version that fits in with our opinions until someone or something fairly extreme changes them. Thatcher and Blair changed a lot of peoples opinions and Mrs May is probably going to be even more influential.

I don't think that Farage was liked or was electable but he created the situation that allowed several factions to vote as one.

Only paper I won't entertain is the sun, a filthy despicable rag......

Worse than the Daily Sport?

There are quite a few I like but it takes me all my time to get through one since I retired. Then it was delivered early and I could read quite a bit on the train. Now with free coffee and a newspaper from Waitrose my wife gets it after having been swimming and shopping on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but I've read a lot of it on line by then.

Back in the 50's I used to buy six papers a day. Daily Mail, Sporting Life, Greyhound Express, Star, News and Standard. Now you don't really need to buy any as it is all on line.

Yes, absolutely, at least the sport knows its tongue in cheek

I just Googled it and it no longer exists. They now have Midweek Sport, Weekend Sport and Sunday Sport.

I think there is merit in all articles and usually something to gain from reading a wide range of publications. Reading from the reporters point of view is interesting regardless of where it is printed, it is rather ignorant and narrow minded to discredit it just because if it's source. By all means don't read it but don't bleat about it when it throws up interesting elements that others find worthy of discussion. Personally I don't buy or read any newspapers which is my choice however if an article is linked like this one I will definitely have a look, it could be invaluable to me at some point and I'm not one to chop off my nose to spite my face. Sorry for the rant 😞
