Sciatica pain but not allowed to take naproxin
Hi, I only know what my EP told me at my one and only appointment with him 1 year ago. He noted that I was taking Naproxen (as needed) for arthritic knees, and told me to take it with caution as Naproxen can raise BP.
Hope they offer you a reliable alternative.
Best wishes to you.
Naproxen can also increase your risk of a bleed when on anticoagulants. I currently am taking medications in that same category for a fractured sacrum, and i had to discontinue my anticoagulant for a while until it heals. Happily I am in NSR since my last ablation so the risk of doing that short term is minimal. Have you tried any physical therapy for your sciatica? Typically plain acetaminophen is the only thing ok with anticoagulants as far as over the counter pain relief. Hope you feel better
NSAIDs such as Naproxen and ibuprophen have been linked to the onset of AF so anybody who has AF should avoid them like the plague. In addition they can interfere with the affects of anticoagulants and increase the risk of internal bleeding.
Sorry Bushy maybe you need to find a decent physio. Been there!
Have you tried a chiropractor? If the sciatica is disc-related, a chiropractic adjustment might be beneficial.
HI there
I had very bad sciatica a few years ago (was before I was diaognosed with AF then) so was taking strong painkillers then, now not allowed. One of our GP's does acupuncture and he uses it for sciatica. I was gettng desperate and I had about four sessions and it dissappeared after the sessions. You could give it a try, a lot of patients swore by this.
