I've posted before about being under investigation for poss Afib my dilemma now is a holiday in 3 weeks time. I have annual travel insurance and rang to update them expecting to maybe pay a supplement and they revoked the policy suggesting that we make a claim. That's bad enough but when I looked at the policy detail one of the questions I answered no to was about having heart related conditions, I didn't at the time, but I have visited A & E in Dec and Jan for what was decided were thyroid/anxiety related palpitations. I truly didn't consider this as something I needed to declare but think they won't pay as a result. So I can get insurance that will cover me for the week elsewhere but how wise is it to go? It points to Afib I think, I still have some eptopic beats, always worse at night and sleep isn't easy. I have no diagnosis, scheduled for 24hr monitor but will be 6 weeks until then.
Any comments welcome

The earlier ones? I didn't see but I was visiting my GP at the time and he said nothing untoward all was prob thyroid related as my blood tests showed hypothyroid despite medication. This was the feedback at A&E - sensible to get checked out but nothing untoward the thyroid results weren't available immediately. This latest time they suggested follow up 24hr monitor but nothing detected
14 day cooling off period and purchased 18th April.... The girl I spoke to said to think about it (cancelling) and let them know. At the time I thought we probably would just cancel and claim. Now I think they might factor in these earlier visits as heart related condition and refuse to pay.
you did the right thing in ringing the insurance company it is in the terms and conditions that you must inform them of any change in your health situation, and it matters not that this is after the policy date.
Should you go on holiday? Yes of course, go and relax, obviously don't plan to go skydiving, wrestle tigers or deep sea diving. Get some insurance and yes you can get it, go away on holiday and relax, no binging on food or booze and you will be fine
Haha to wrestling tigers - I think the ones I'm trying to cope with are my own demons! I realise stressing doesn't help but it seems to have taken such a grip of me.
Insurance companies don't much like problems and no firm diagnosis. Perhaps, if you wish to dip your hand in your pocket, a private consultation with an electrophysiologist (i.e. heart rhythm specialist) would give you a speedy and clear indication of what's up.
I think we should all fight against letting AF stand in the way of our holiday plans.
No I think that's the issue and I can understand it to an extent but when I took it out I honestly had no inkling of what was to come 😕 I can get insurance covering me for palpitations under investigation from a different company but just concerned. I have had clear ECG and bloods but something not right so Afib still a possibility although my thyroid is once again out of range
