Is Aspirin back in favour.......?
Hi Mike
Not sure aspirin has ever been OUT of favour, except as an anti-coagulant in the treatment of AF.
I must admit that were I not already taking an anti-coagulant, I would probably take a daily very low dose aspirin, as the communal evidence seems to be that it probably does more good than harm.
But not now of course, combined with an anti-coagulant it would increase my bleed risk too much.
My tuppence worth anyway
Be well
Ian
Daily low dose aspirin upset my stomach badly. I had always relied on aspirin to treat migraine without any difficulty and my stomach had never caused me trouble previously. Daily onslaught is different.
Aspirin increases your bleeding risk more than well controlled warfarin, so you need to balance out that risk against a supposed reduction in some cancers from aspirin. I actually think you're better off increasing exercise and eating a broader range of healthy food than taking aspirin.
Back in the mid 80's it was reported that many doctors were taking a daily mini aspirin to ward of heart disease so I followed suit. Now that more and more benefits are being found for it I have ended up back on Warfarin
