Questions to ask

I am scheduled to see my EP on Monday to set up date for AFib ablation. I had a successful ablation for flutter three years ago but I know that AFib ablation is much more involved and can have risks. I would appreciate if anyone can tell me what questions I should ask EP. I have not been on an anti coagulant just 300 mgs daily of Flecanaide.

Thank you for an advice, Gracey

You will need to be on anticoagulant for a while before ablation to reduce risk of stroke during the procedure so that will be your first hurdle. MY EP wanted me on warfarin for at least three months prior to the date but others may have different protocols.

Bob, thank you. I learned from this forum that anti coagulant would have to be taken before and after but didn't know it was for that long. I'll let you know what EP says after appointment on Monday. Gracey

3 weeks for me prior and about six weeks after. Procedure is not much to worry about. Post op a little rough. First month after groin hurt. Heart jumped around a lot for few months but has settled down. Mine successful!
