Have a word with your Doctor ... Proton Pump Inhibitor may be very effective?

I had very bad acid reflux after my last cardio version, I mean very very bad, could not sleep, but got something from the chemist, but cannot remember the name.

It worked very fast.

You don't have to live with it ask your doctor.

I have had the same, horrible! Your GP should give you tablets such as Ranitidine which I take but I still get very painful acid reflux if I'm not careful. If it is really bad I take Gaviscon to soothe it. Try eating little and often, no strong coffee or tea, no alcohol or spicy food. If you drink tea or coffee have a plain biscuit with it. Try drinking sips of water quite often.

Hope that helps!

I have slept in a recliner for several years, the elevation in my upper body helps with the reflux.

I had acid reflux very badly after ablation, I think it was caused by the TOE as I was told the camera got stuck in my esophagus and I had a very sore throat for a few weeks but everything did settle after few months in. I found the following worked:-

Stop eating carbohydrates of ANY kind but especially for breakfast - no cereals at all, no bread, potatoes, pancakes etc.

Any carbonated drink makes things a whole lot worse so drink only plain water or mild herbal teas without milk.

If you take a NOAC ensure you take it with plenty of water - full glass - with food - they make things a whole lot worse.

When you get acid reflux always have a cup of hot water to hand and take frequent sips, preferably with a slice of lemon in it or a few drop of peppermint oil in it (ensure it is of the edible variety) or mint tea.

Eat only small amounts of food, avoid all large meals - part of the problem I found was that the stomach doesn't empty properly - especially when filled with carbohydrates.

I found all meds just make things worse and as all drugs have side effects, especially PPIs I took nothing.

If it hasn't settled within a few months then go see your doctor as there may be something mechanically wrong which can be fixed.

Hope things improve soon.

Best wishes CD

I have started taking aloe Vera gel first thing in the morning. Wait 10 mins before eating, I think it has helped. Also I have started chewing my food mor thoroughly , I found large lumps give me a lot of discomfort on swallowing. I had my Cryoablation ablation end of Nov. 2015 and have a nasty feeling it hasn't worked as still getting af, it's the pain on swallowing that might put me off from having another ablation! Still it's early days and " things can only get better"

I was concerned about swallowing problems after my ablation because I had a bad time after my previous operation. My EP told me he had never known anyone who still had a problem a year after the ablation, really encouraging!

I had my ablation on the 15th December and really would not want another one, though I don't want to put anyone off, I am a special case because of other health problems.

How long since your ablation? I suffered every day/ night for at least 2 months, now just occasionally at night. Hope you soon find relief- its horrible isn't it?

I had my RF Ablation 2 weeks ago yesterday. On one hand and I'm pleased that its not that unusual and it appears to get better over time. I had TOE also. slightly sore gullet for first day but then no problem swallowing. However 2 days after coming home terrible indigestion and acid reflux which gradually got worse. Felt like my stomach was not emptying properly as still had indigestion, feeling full and acid reflux 7 hours after eating. I went to my doctor who said sound like I have Gastroparesis ( which is a condition causing slow or non emptying of the stomach) can be temporary!!! he prescribed Metoclopramide for this and also Omeprazole to help heal Oesophagus.

And Peptac Liquid for acid reflux. I have to say I have been miserable with this.

Ok during the day but after evening meal at 6pm still suffering at 1 - 2am in morning.

Feeling full of liquid or air or both - desperately wanting to belch but cannot. Liquid reflux coming back up.

Had to go back to work last week so not sleeping well is affecting me, as was still feeling tired after ablation which went very well I believe. My heart is fine no blips or irregular beats, its the rest of me that's now complaining. Also have low backache constantly. but is easing off now.

The advice given on what to eat and eating smaller meals is helpful. I am now eating smaller portion at night and it has helped a bit. I just hope that it does gradually go away. No- one mentioned this complication to me at hospital or before on this website.

Some years ago I had the same problem, ask your GP about trying Omeprazole for a period and see if that helps, I have had no acid reflux or indigestion for years now since the day I started on it.
