Asprin isn't an anti-coagulant- are you in difficulties because you need an anti-coagulent and have a risk of bleeding- or kidney problems? Asprin also leads to bleeding risk and doesn't help the stroke risk with AF

No I take 75mg of aspirin daily as I had a heart attack in 2007, I am also on beta blockers. I also had a evar stent fitted for a AAA in my abdominal aorta. The risk of that stent developing an endoleak would be greatly increased if I were on anticoagulants. My cardiologist said for me just to take the aspirin. As my risk of a stroke is only 2%

I'm wondering if there is anything else they can do for me.

I am worrying myself silly.

I can understand your worry- you don't say whether you are in AF and also your age etc- it would be good to work out your chadsvasc score (AFA website) You obviously must follow the medical advice given and the asprin is taken for sensible reasons. I think it would be worth a second opinion if only to stop you worrying. Are you able to ask/e mail the consultant haematologist at the hospital you are under?

They might have some additional advice. The cardiologist does seem to have worked out that you are at low risk of stroke so try not to worry too much.

Hi Karim123

May I ask how much aspirin you take daily, also have you had a heart attack and how old are you please

I am 63 had a heart attack in 2007.

Do you find you can live a normal life or does the AF stop you doing things you used to?

Regards

Rogers
