Southampton University hospital produces excellent patient information as do a few other hospitals..

Thank you seasider - it looks superb. My hospital's information was along the lines of

'You have possible atrial fibrillation, here's Apixaban - cheerio'.

They treat you for 'possible' now? No 7 day monitor or other medications, 'Just get on with it'

The Freeman in Newcastle also have good fact sheets as does one of the Welsh hospitals.

It was left as 'possible' until it was caught on a Holter monitor 5 months later, then Bisoprolol was prescribed. There was never any information available - still isn't - other than some very brief follow-ups from a cardiologist who firmly believed in Bisoprolol.

Practically everything I found out and all the support that I had came from this forum, including my eventual decision to see an EP privately - NHS waiting list here would have been 16 months.

I had always read about the postcode lottery but hoped I would never face it - and yes, 'get on with it' seems to be the attitude of too many health professionals UK-wide. :(
