3rd ablation..

Hi all, had my 2nd ablation last summer and it seems I'm now in atrial flutter rather than fibrillation (do the risk factors change I wonder?). Scheduled for my 3rd ablation this coming Friday but my heart rhythm is feeling very steady ('no irregularities found' according to my monitor). Just wondering what happens if you go into surgery and you are in NSR??

I think that most of us are in nsr - I certainly was. Apparently I went into AF during my ablation and had to be shocked back into nsr. I asked the EP if the AF had been helpful, thinking that they could see the problem and he replied " Not really."

I have heard of them inducing AF during ablations so obviously we're all different!

Good luck with it.

Hi,

As Jennydog says most of us are in NSR on our trip to theatre but they do bring on this

abnormal rhythm to find the rogue signal and hopefully eliminate it. Good luck third time around.

Let us now how you get on.

Two things, flutter should be ablated as it can develop into something else so even if you are feeling fine you should go for it. This was emphasised on Sunday at HRC. Secondly it doesn't matter if you are in NSR as they have some clever drugs to induce AF when they want to see where it is coming from.

Worry ye not.

What can flutter develop into besides AF Bob ? Mind you that would be enough. Although many go into flutter before they go back into NSR after AF.

Yes it can develop into AFib true but has the potential to cause other cardiac problems although these were not enumerated at the meeting. The comment was that is it so easy to deal with it is stupid not to.

BobD,

Didn't make the seminar in Birmingham on Sunday, recovering from Ablation. Do you know whether there is a plan to release any recordings of the proceedings?

Dave.

That comment must be from someone unfamiliar with the possible complications of treatment. :(
