When to test INR when on Clarithromycin

Hi all

have very stable INR and have blood tests every 3 months. Been prescribed Clarithromycin for chest infection and doc mentioned about the risk of raised INR levels and to go for a test. Have been given 7 day course today. When should I go for test and how often on this drug.

Usually when you have finished the course. I am surprised your GP didn't tell you this. You may then get tested after another week etc till your INR returns to normal.

I think I went about 5 days after I started Clarithromycin and it made little difference to my INR. Still had to have another weekly test then two weeks etc.

Hi - I have AF and also Bronchiectasis and the only antibioticic I can take for chest infections is Clarithromycin but hope I don't sound "ignorant" but what are INR Levels.
