With all good wishes and hoping you are soon restored to to a more comfortable existence. I know what you are going through since I am due to have catheter ablation this week.

I had an AV ablation last October, with the pacemaker in place since the previous March. The combination of the two is just amazing. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, I am totally unaware as all I feel is a steady and unwavering heart beat and my energy levels have soared. The procedures (I had them done separately, for reasons known best to themselves), but both were an absolute doddle. I am due to have my pacemaker read on the 30th and I am hoping they will adjust it so that it will allow my heart to recognise a slightly higher energy level than I now have so that I can tackle hills on my bike. I must warn you, though, that the first month after the pacemaker was activated (during the ablation) my heart rate was kept at a constant 80 so I coouldn't exert myself at all. I wasn't told about this and found it very disconcerting, but it was done to allow the heart to recover fully from the procedure. At the end of that month, the pacemaker was adjusted so that I now have a base rate of 60 and 130 at the top end and life is good. Good luck to you and I will be interested to read your post after the event.

Jos they usually fit the pacemaker well in advance so that it is all working fine before they ablate the AV node. That is what two separate procedures.
