Dronedarone
I was on it for a couple of months before my ablation. It was better than aminodarone but eventually I changed over to Sotalol, and then back to nebivolol after the op. Why do you ask ?
I was on it for several months after first being on Amiodarone for around 6 years. It didn't have the same side effects as Amiodarone, but for me unfortunately wasn't as effective and I went back into persistent AF
Hi , I have been on Dronedarone for the last 2 years plus, its supposed to be effective in regulating the heart in 25 per cent of cases. I have had no ill effects.
I still had AP Bouts whilst on the medication and was given an Ablation in January.
So far so good, its likely I will be taken off the Dronedarone at my follow up visit in April.
Interesting drug . It was touted as being the great white hope for AF sufferers when it was finally approved a few years ago but was supposed only to be prescribed by cardiologists or EPs. With all the press coverage lots of people door stepped their GPs till they prescribed it and then of course a few people died or had serious liver damage through lack of supervison and again the press caused a reversal so it fell out of favour for a couple of years. It is a derivative of amiodarone without the iodine which so causes thyroid and other problems long term.
Hi linc2u, I was on dronedarone after my ablation last March for 3 months , with no side effects or any change to my liver function.my specialist did not like to use amiodarone !
Started on it in November 2013. Was stopped September 2014 after ablation. Restarted in September 2014 when I had further episodes of fast AF. Been on it ever since.
Hi. I have been on Dronedarone for about 8 months , no known side effects . I also take Bisoprolol , Warfarin and Aspirin , Atorvastatin . I have PAF and seem to get it every few weeks or so. Just lately noticed my heart missing beats too. Not due to see cardiologist for a few months . Sometimes get anxious but try to stay calm and tune into my breathing .
