That is good to hear. Do you folks in Great Brighton only do the heat ablations?

No, cryo balloon ablation is done in Liverpool and at other locations in Great Britain.

I was very, very lucky not to have it. It was scheduled for me but due to an emergency I had a change of EP and ordinary hot ablation. They discovered that two of my pulmanory veins were conjoined so there was a large entry hole into my heart instead of two small holes. The cryo balloon would have been too small to cope with the large hole.

Several of my cousins have AF and I have warned them about cryo ablation. If their plumbing is like mine it should be avoided. Luck was on my side!

That is good they discovered that. I had a 1.5 hour MRI to take lovely pictures to find out how my veins were situated. He was very happy with how they looked so I didn't expect to be one of the rare people to have my prentice nerve damaged. Out of 500 cryosurgery I am the 4th person this has happened to. They don't know enough about what this means as far as healing or other side effects. I am a bit unnerved :) about this. Doesn't really matter if you sign off on the risk when it happens to you. Let me know if you hear anything from others you know.

I think that must have been what happened to me during my cryo ablation as I remember saying that I couldn't breathe so they stopped. The consultant said my diaphragm had frozen. Luckily they seem to have done enough to help. It is good to find out the cause, thanks for this posting.

You were awake? Ohh I don't think I could have done that. I gather from what you are saying that your nerve healed. That is good to know. Thanks for the response.
