Ablation for AF

I had a 22mm Atrial Septal Defect 12 year ago. Discovered by a TOE (did not show on an echo) carried out because I had periods of AF. 30mm closure device fitted. I still get AF but one ablation to the right atrium 6 years ago cured my flutter. Does ablution for AF need to enter the left atrium??

Yes Nigel, The catheter is taken into the right atrium and then the septum is punched through in order to get into the left atrium to isolate the pulmonary veins . It is that complexity of the breaching which is why some centres do flutter ablation but not fibrillation. It take more experience and different equipment to do ablations for AF
