Further to NICE no longer recommending Sotalol for rate control does anyone know what will happen for patients already taking Sotalol?

Hi Patricia

As I understand it, from my non medical viewpoint, you are likely to be switched to another beta blocker.

I am still not sure why they have reccomended this however

Hi

Do all our GP's get to know what NICE has to say about these drugs I take Sotalol seem fine on them so far.

If our GP's do get these reports I would love to know when they get time to read them !

It is possible that if it suits you, you may be able to stay on it. You would have to discuss with your dr, who may not have even read the guidelines yet.

Hi, I was on atenolol for hypertension for 13 years, got Afib in 2012 and the cardios changed me to Sotalol while in hospital, saying that atenolol was rather old-fashioned. I've tolerated Sotalol well, but still have had quite a few AF episodes ( though none to my knowledge for 9 months, crossed fingers! ) Will be interesting to see if and when my GP changes it, or if the cardio will, when I see him/her next January.

Best wishes to all.
