what is ablation
Hi BIll, ablation or pulmonary vein isolation procedure is a minimally invasive procedure to try to block the rogue impulses which cause AF by making small burns inside the heart to create scar tissue across which the impulses can't travel. It involves the Elecrtophysiologist threading a catheter into a vein in the groin and up into the heart where he then uses one of two different methods to create the scars. I have had it done three times up to 2008 since when I have been AF free. There is an information sheet downloadable from the main website which explains more fully.

Had my 1st Ablation Procedure in Aug '12. Choice between RF (radio frequency) or Cryo (freezing) was made by the research computer as I am part of a study program.RF chosen and am very glad to say I have been in normal sinus rhythm since.
I posted this on another thread but I thought it might be good to put it here as well in case some people miss it.
