I'm having my first ablation in the spring, I have paroxysmal AF, so it's not constant, will they be able to do the ablation if I'm not in AF?
Ablation: I'm having my first ablation... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Ablation
Hi - You don't need to be in AF for them to carry out the ablation. I've had two ablations and wasn't in paroxysmal AF either time, like you that's what my complaint was.
Thanks for that Jean, I just want it done so I can get on with my life, drugs are just not working, exhausted and breathless all the time, so don't want it cancelled because I'm not in AF at the time!!!!
Hi MammaCass
With my first ablation 8 years ago, when my AF was constant, it was a total success as my EP predicted it would be because they would know whether it had worked straight away.
But on my 2nd ablation they couldn't do anything because my AF had disappeared. They tried to stimulate it during the procedure but could get nothing. But speaking to them afterwards, they were very surprised so don't think this is usual.
Maybe when you have PAF they stimulate it when you're on the table, as they tried with me? Just half-guessing.
