If the mucus from the back of your throat is only slightly blood stained, when you brush your teeth, then the blood could be from cleaning your teeth. Although you probably can't see how this could be, lots of people get that - including me. Try to bring up the mucus from your throat before brushing your teeth to see if it's blood stained. Fresh blood is bright, old is dark and almost brownish.

Do you get nose bleeds, as blood in the throat can sometimes be the residue from that?

My daughter had a period of bringing up large amounts of blood, which horrified me. Tests showed it was her adenoids bleeding, she had them out and was cured.

Are you taking warfarin? I guess you are aware that this can cause more bleeding than usual.

Really no one on here can answer this question for you other than a doctor. There are so many things it could be. I would suggest you discuss your concerns with your GP as soon as possible to allay your concern.

Yes I have done that before brushing my teeth and it is blood tinged.I am constantly trying to.clear my throat as if there is a film of mucus that will never go.down.I have checked gums and every tooth and no.blood.I also recently went to a ENT and I told him about it and he did say I have rhinitis where my nostrils are inflamed and had a scoped put through my nose down to my throat and he say my throat was swollen which was weird cause I had no.sore throat.Just been.scaring me I have went to.the doc so many times and they never do anything! The blood is.not brown its bright red.

Hello all,

After your dinner, after your brushing use virgin cocconut oil. Take 10 drops of cocconut oil and swallow and hold it on your throat (may be round your head for spred and apply the virgin cocconut oil all over your throat), follow every day before sleeping even it will quires cancer. Dont wory about virgin cocconut oil drinking as it will stimulate even brain fuction. This was success for me. Please share your experience here so that will help others.

It may just be from a slight nose bleed. I get this with warfarin where the mucus can be spotted. At night the mucus is probably draining down your throat. I get this after a cold and often have a bit of a cough in the morning, particularly after cleaning my teeth. The blood would be bright red as it's come from the head and is highly oxygenated. I'm sure if the GP thought it was anything else they would be ordering more tests.

Are you able to drink plenty of fluids? If the mucus feels thick this will certainly help especially with this warm weather. Also if you are concerned as you said, you may be consciously or unconsciously trying to clear your throat and this can cause tiny blood vessels to leak, also might explain the unknown swelling. Having said that anything that causes you to worry is best discussed with a doctor. I often feel much improved once the responsibility is with a professional

Yes, I get this quite regularly since I went on Warfarin over 10 years ago. It probably comes from maybe blowing your nose too vigorously or being a bit too rough with the tooth brush.

Do you also feel tiny blood comes out from your throat. Me too i have this problem since i followed the first endoscopy procedure before this i never had this problem and second time i went to see my docter he recommended me to do a endoscopy test again just to know the reasion of blood mucus from my throat and finally when he finished the test he said you have small scratch inside your throat what brings tiny blood out sometimes from your throat after that he gave me some medecines for a month what i finished but still the same problem resist. Its not every day but particularly when i get cold and soar throat it starts with tiny blood like vessel leak. Can anybody tell me what's the solution to my problem plz.

I , too, began noticing a small string of blood in some mucus coming from my nose a bout a year and a half a go. Went to pc and he did a chest x ray and said probably seasonal allergy. I bopped along and as a runner I noticed a bit of shortness of breath, so I went back and he referred me to a pulmonary specialist who did pulmonary function test which was great and went through a ct chest with contrast checking for blood clots etc. Again, nothing. So now I still notice a shortness of breath and some blood, not everytime, that I clear my throat. Went back to pulmonologist and he said he didn't see a thing wrong with my lungs. When asked why am I short of breath and seeing some blood, said it could be digestive related, ie esophagus. Why is it so difficult to get answers these days. Its if nobody care that your body is saying "HEY THERES SOMETHING WRONG!!!!!!! He gave me BREO and said see him back in a month. What happened to when I was a child and our family dr. did all of the diagnosing instead of farming you out to this one, that one and another one???? Oh he did say, "well weve done all the imaging we can do and there is nothing showing." Don't get me wrong, I am happy, but my 66 year old body screams YES THERE IS SOMETHING!!!! I was a runner, swimmer, biker and this is totally uncharacteristic of me to complain and I am so tired of hearing "Well you are not as young as you used to be!" We h_ _ _, I am aware of this but I am so tired of going and hearing doctors make up something. Oh yes, the most common response is "Are you under any stress?" That seems to be the generic line these days! So hopefully your problem is just sinus or maybe you aren't as young as you used to be!!!!! LOL!!!!!
