Dr. Selection for Proton Therapy

Hi all, I've been diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. Gleason 9 with metastatic to the right seminal vessel and one lymph node. Currently getting registered at Loma Linda and also the Proton Center at San Diego. Dr. Rossi just went on vacation for a month, so he's unfortunately a no-go, and I'm scheduled to begin therapy in Oct. at LLC and the proton center. I'm currently scheduled for Dr. Macewan at the Proton Center and Dr. Namihas at LLC.

I would like to know the communities experience with either/both of these doctors and the facilities.

I just had a 4 week Proton treatment at California Protons with Dr Rossi. Completed on August 6th 2024.

I’m 85 yrs old with a Gleason 8 and a PSA of 22.5 on Feb 2019. Have been on Lupron and the Eligard for last 5 yrs.

PSA started rising from 0.3 to 6.25 in 6 months. No Mets.

Urologist and MO suggested radiation.

Spoke with Loma Linda before deciding on where to have Proton therapy.

At that time( early January 2024) Loma Linda did not offer Pencil Beam proton therapy.

Thus, my decision to go with Dr Rossi was made. Absolutely the best medical treatment I have ever had .

No side effects other than having to urinate every 3 hours. Was advised this would go away after 6 -8 weeks.
