Since my PSA is undetectable, less than 0.01, and I’m otherwise in good health with stage 4 and mets throughout, my urologist suggests I go from 3 month injections intervals to every 6 months.
He mentioned that the side effects are similar and the only change is going from 4 times a year to twice a year.
I’d love to hear about any of your experience with this and /or what else I should be aware of before making the change.
Thank you

I'm also in Canada and have stage 4 metastatic PC. Because I was in an emergency situation they put me on the fast acting Firmagon ADT. I've been on it for over a year.
Now it gets interesting. My medical oncologist suggested I go on Eligard/Leuprolide - basically because of the 90 day injection convenience. Firmagon is at 28-day injection.
But the decision is really much bigger than just a question of convenience. Because the two drugs are different medical technologies. Firmagon is a GnRH "antagonist", whereas the 90-day drugs are "agonists".
And I have decided to stay on an antagonist because it has, according to research, a better profile where problematic cardiovascular side effects are concerned. There are other differences too.
The difference between the two are well known. And some medical oncologists don't think it's such a big deal. It's a question you have to concern yourself with and you're on health history.
I will comment that if you only have a urologist making these decisions then it seems that they wouldn't be so thinking about this so much. If you are changing your therapies against serious metastatic prostate cancer then it would seem a medical oncologist should be in the loop. Because we are dealing with very complex full body hormonal interactions. We are a long way from just urology.
I hope this helps and a big success for you as you manage your care.
I get quarterly shots and not the six month shot. I do not know, but I was told that sometimes the strength of the 6 month shot can begin to weaken at the end of that period.
