Prolia: Prerequisites

I am currently on HT (Organovyx) but will be starting an HT vacation. Dr. Lam suggests I consult my local Michigan PCP regarding starting Prolia as my last bone density test 6 months ago was T= -2.4 (Osteopenia but VERY close to Osteoporosis).

My insurance is BCBSM Medicare Advantage PPO. I see my doctor on Wednesday. Any hints on costs? Do I require a dx. of OsteoPOROSIS? If so, maybe get another bone density test? What IS the cost of Prolia?

I would think being ON Orgovix would help get approval as loss of bone density is a known side effect. Do you have mets to bone? That would also help.

call your insurance co. Ask them to share their rules for Prolia and what your cost would be. I doubt another bone density test would be covered this soon
