Viewing CT scans at home

I have gotten discs from all the scans I have had over the years. I just got one from a scan on the 23 and thought I would give it a look even though I could not really tell anything on previous scans. This time the disc is a jumble of mismatched autorun info and applications. There are at least four dicom viewers and only one sort of works. I can just see a few static images of areas of no interst to me.

In the past I have tried downloading different viewers both free and trial versions of the real stuff. Even then I could not make any sense of the images. I would like to be able to see a 3d vies and rotate zoom in and out and all the things the images are capable of providing information for.

Is there a viewer that is not a total piece of crap for patients that does not require hours or days figuring out a horrible organization and interface? My CAD program can visualize three D images with no problem and is very intuitive. Same is true of STL free viewers. It really isn't rocket surgery :)

Why is this sort of software generally so horrible?

our various imaging providers now let us view images through patient portals. No CDs required any longer. Really helps when going from specialist to specialist since we can bring up images on our phone or any computer.

not my provider, they are still in the dark ages. i need to get a CD. just the narrative online and they wait a week to post it. also they can not manage to get images to another provider in a timely fashion. i get the CD and upload it to my web server so my "outside" providers can have access if Adventist can not manage it.

3dicom patient version is quite good but i still can not make sense of the images. looking for tutorial. i do understand it does take years to get good at this but just want to see how large my lesions are.
