Perhaps, just perhaps, doctors should instruct their scheduling staff exactly what records a patient needs to bring to the doctor to avoid wasting that doctor's time when they could be with another patient.

I was told by the doctor I went to for a second opinion to Fed Ex a disc of my MRI so that it could be viewed --before--an appointment was scheduled-as well as my medical history. He had all that information, had gone over it before my appointment and was able to discuss whether the treatment I wished to choose would be viable.

Treating prostate cancer is the doctor's profession. A doctor with experience has seen thousands of patients. For the patient, this is the first time around and the patient will likely need guidance.

I would think, that had I arrived at my appointment and been told that I should have forwarded my results, imaging and medical history to the doctor X amount of time before the appointment, that it was my responsibility to know and forward my complete medical history, I would then question just how organized and professional that doctor was. Maybe I wouldn't be interested in a second appointment.

With the access to information provided by the internet, few people compare medical treatment available today with what was available in 1972. That is 51 years ago. How old was that man's father? Go to the 55 second mark in the video to listen to the 1972 comment.
