Color genone Dx is a "germline" test, meaning whatever genomics are found are in every cell in the body.

Tempus, and Foundation One (tumor tissue) are "somatic" tests, which only look at tumor genomics and require a tumor biopsy.

Guardant 360 and Foundation One (blood test) look at the DNA in one's blood. That can come from any cells (germline) or cancer cells (somatic)

will a tempus blood sample yield the same results as a foundation 1 blood biopsy?

I ask because my dad's oncologist sent for a tempus blood draw ..but my dad only has bone Mets.

All blood tests are a combination of somatic and germline. I have no idea how one performs vs another - I don't think they were ever compared in the same patients.

I recently got results back from Tempus. Mine included both the “xG” which is germline and “xF” which is a blood tumor load meant to be indicative of somatic

My xG results compared my blood genes to 52 common hereditary cancer genes. I had two show up as ‘variants of unknown significance’ which basically means they are mutations from normal but not yet categorized as matching a malignant or benign variant in the database. So in other words nothing actionable (though the databases get updated over time so the category can change).

My xF gave a relatively low blood tumor load, which I think could be related to the fact that I’m very early in my therapy (or course of disease).

My practice (Northwestern Med) offered to have their on staff oncology geneticist go over the results with me, which I found very helpful. So ask if this is available to you.

Others on this board have recommended the Foundation testing. I can’t speak to the difference between Foundation and Tempus, but I believe Tempus is newer and lower in price.

was it covered by insurance or Medicare?

Partially so far. It's going to be a process but I expect it to be covered by insurance.
