Had a PSA test five and a half weeks after my RP. Was 5.3 beforehand. Latest result is 0.1 Ng/ml. Not sure if this means anything sinister as my research suggested that undetected or no higher than 0.02 Ng/ml meant I would be in the clear. Any advice would be most welcomed

psa after rp
My first PSA 6 weeks after RP on Feb 25, 2022 was .09. PSA 90 days after RP was .069. I am now on Eligard, Abiraterone, and prednisone for 24 to 36 months and I have 32 sessions of radiation scheduled to start the middle of November.
Hello Alturia. Sorry you're having to go through all this. if your PSA has been heading in the right direction was all the treatments necessary, if post RP your reading was 0.09 and 0.069 later.
Is your lab reporting to a single or two decimal places?
Good points Justfor and GoBucks. A fellow sufferer seems to think the lab in question doesn't report anything below 0.1. The result now I've seem it actually says <0.1ug/L (0-4.5). I heard of ng/ml but don't know what these other symbols mean.
Seems early to me to have had a PSA test. But the result sounds great. Have another test soon to confirm good result.
You should not be having a PSA test before 3 months post-prostatectomy. RP puts a lot of PSA in your blood and it takes a while to clear out.
Too early for an accurate reading.
What was the pathology report from surgery? And yes, usually 10-12 weeks post RP a PSA test would be taken. As noted as there may be residual cells left behind that die out... So check back in a few months and focus on recovery first! Lots of walking and kegels!
Best Regards
they don't usually take the 1st post RP PSA until 10 weeks....due to residual effect earlier than that.
