Erleda is brand name of a drug known as Apalutamide. Its a newer type of LUTAMIDE. Other members of Lutamide family are..BicaLutamide, Enza LUTAMIDE, Daro LUTAMIDE etc.

Lutamide do not lower testosterone. These meds act by blocking AR receptor and thus, blocking the effect of testosterone.

Great stuff! I hope the side effects are minimal.

Hi craziecanuk. My husband started Erleada four months ago and is doing well on it. He was diagnosed in March with multiple bone mets and is also on three monthly Prostap injections. He has some side effects, hot flashes, ED and muscle loss, but feels they are minimal and is tolerating them very well. Hope that helps!

I am a Canadian as well. Have been on Elreada since June (also on Firmagon). Side effects are mostly hot flashes which seem to be increasing with time and are most bothersome at night. Had some leg cramps early on, which I had checked out with my MO and we decided it probably had to do with exercise rather than the Erleada, but that is something to watch out for. Pedealyte seems to help with the muscle cramps. ED and low libido, which may also be due to the Firmagon. Thyroid function can be affected by Erleada, noticeable by fatigue - my MO prescribed me with Levothyroxine for my rising TSH, which has helped with the fatigue. Muscle loss is a common side effects of ADT so may be due to either or both the Firmagon and/or Erleada - in my case it is mild so far but I make sure to exercise daily (10,000-15,000 steps daily, golf, (walking), weights or resistance bands 3-5 times a week). The hot flashes at night are my main complaint at this time.
