Delayed Eliguard Side Effects

Advice PLEASE! Eliguard side effects.

My first post. I’m asking for my hubby. Diagnosed April 2020. June 2020 had his first 3 month shot beginning what was to be 2 years of ADT ….Eliguard injection. Second injection 3 month Sept 2020 and doc talked him into a 6 month injection Dec 2020. The side effects from the beginning were terrible. Aches, pains I hips, brain fog, hot flashes severely lethargic. This was pretty much it. Being lethargic pretty much did him in. Fast forward to June 2021 ready for his next injection. He said not more. Doc said it should be out of your system in a few months. Jan 2022 he began new side effects, anxiety, breast swelling, breast pain, very moody, anxiety. Has anyone else experienced delayed side effects? What do you do for the breast pain and swelling? It’s now June 2022 and these new side effects seem to be getting worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Archer..These are side effects of Eligard. Is he also on Bicalutamide? Because Bicalutamide commonly causes breast enlargement and breast pain. If Tamoxifen 10 mg a day is used with Bicalutamide, this side effect can be prevented. Long acting Eligard injections can take long time to wash out from body. They eventually get cleared by the body.

He doesn’t go to the the gym but he does work daily on our property cutting trees down and cutting brush. He does more work than he would get in the gym. If the breast pain /enlargement along with the other joint pain I think his anxiety and depression would subside.

Yard work s a great activity, in the gym you can challenge yourself and strengthen your muscles by lifting heavy. I had the beginnings of man boobs, consulted trainer and in 6 months they are just about gone through isolating pectoral muscles. Just my experience

His last shot of Eliguard was Dec 2021. It was a 6 month. No he has not taken Bicalutamide.

He can take tamoxifen 20 mg/day until the breast tenderness goes away, and then switch to 10 mg/day. Tamoxifen is now available as a patch.

He can switch from Eligard to daily Orgovyx tablets and see if the side effects diminish.

Eligard kicked my ass, Lupron was less severe. Try switching, and don't believe it if a doctor's tells you they are the same, because many people have more severe side effects from Eligard. I asked my doctor to get Lupron for me, even though the hospital used Elligard. The hospitals get whatever they can get cheaper, not what gives less severe side effects.

He is not taking the Eliguard anymore. He is not taking anything. The new side effects showed up a year after his last shot. The man boobs and boob tenderness, anxiety. He is refusing anymore ADT.
