Xtandi and PSMA scan

I received my xtandi 40mg Wednesday I’m having a PSMA done Monday. I asked the imagining center if I could start taking the pills, they told me yes an wouldn’t have any effects on the scan. My MO from Hollings Cancer Center called me Wednesday. We had a very good chat for over half hour. I asked him about taking the pills five days before the scan. He suggested that I should possibly wait just in case the pills mask something. After thinking about it all day, I decided to go with his suggesting. If the five day wait matters, then stick a fork in me I’m done.

WOW My doctor started me on 160 mg and when I had a problem cut me to 120. Iam in the office now so I will ask about 80 mg. I see that some do take 80, but they make money at their drug store so I will see. This xtandi costs my insurance company a ton each month.

Another doctor that hasn't set eyes on PSMA literature at least 5 years now. There are papers claiming that Enzalutamide, when first taken -some say for 2 weeks, others one month- stimulates the PSMA of cancerous cells, hence, enhancing their detection.

Google: "PSMA expression upregulation by Enzalutamide" and you will get pages of links to relevent papers.

There may some early increase in PSMA expression, but it is short-lived:
