For those of us treated with Lutetium-177 or those of us pursuing treatment I found this short video to be informative.

Thanks for posting this. I found the discussion around FDG-PET very interesting.

will try to find it. when a patient is considering LU 177 are there tests to be performed that might predict the effectiveness of the treatment. For example does a PSMA scan show degree of PSMA expression and therefore the likelihood of successful treatment?

read your article on why LU 177 fails. your last line is of most interest. maybe a very low does of LU177 could along with a very high resolution PET scan could discriminate between cells within a tumor?

My thinking exactly and I did not even know about the limited effective distance. WTF do they wait until you are almost dead. I think I should have gotten LU 177 concurrent with brachytherapy (not available then) and I would probably have been cured. It was gleason 9 with high PSA and mot likely to have metastasized even at that time.

I also believe it would be good to have early Lu treatment and follow with other treatment to mop up what may be left but was refused by 3 separate Doctors in Australia SOC says you must be 1/2 dead

I find this in a way shocking since it seems those paying out of pocket from overseas pretty easily make it in for radioligand therapy in Australia. Guess the same dichotomy you see in medical care in the US when you pay out of pocket versus depending on organized healthcare be that private of pseudo government (as exists in the USA) insurance also exists in Australia. Very sad and mad to hear this.

slpdmmd Thanks for your reply. I was prepared to pay with out support. Discussion with a young Radionuclide Therapy doctor who also reported on my PSMA Pet said his MDT team would not allow it as upfront LU had not been trialed .I pleaded with him for he and i to be the first but stated he would be treated as a COWBOY by the profession

Thanks very much. I recently began treatment with Lutetium-177 at the Anadolu clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, under Dr. Kezban Berberoglu. I was referred to her by Dr. Eugene Kwon at the Mayo Clinic, partly because I live in Cyprus which is nearby. I have no hesitation in recommending this clinic and this doctor.
