I will be getting my second dose of Lu 177. So far sooooo...... painful although fentanyl is my friend, pain has been managed as of late, My labs are good except one my Alk phos is 1598, I was told by a oncologist this is just a number and dont lose sleep over it, given the treatment I am involved in, and being littered with mets prior to treatment how concerning is this, and what does this indicate for guys in our camp. Is there anything I could do, are not do. Thankyou

I'm not sure about the ALP number. It's hard to judge if a treatment is working after only one dose. Is PSA dropping, or holding steady?

Dont know about psa, not one of labs requested. Pain is low now with patches. Thanks.

PSA at start of a treatment often is useless acct. of dying cells spilling it into your blood stream. Also some treatments, including mine, sometime have Pain Increase initially when bone mets are being affected// Also Alk/phos increased for me when bone mets were active on bones--it may be the same when Lu-177 is killing cancer. For now just hope for the best, fight the pain, and hope for better scans in the future.

Shooter put it well. I couldn't find the words.Yea lets hope its the typical result of dying pc cells and the flare in bone mets from treatment.

Just have to tough it out a bit more than one treatment and see what scans look like.

I'm sorry you still in pain after Lu-177, I think pain indicates that treatment is working.

I would insist on getting PSA test or pay out of pocket for the test before 2nd Lu-177, so you can have a better picture.

Would a Psa be indicative of anything now, considering if its working wouldnt it be breaking the cancer down and maybe increased through the blood stream. A scan is the the true tail of the tape if its working. I am asking Thank-you

Scans are definitive info for sure, however I do think having PSA numbers will help, for example:

- if your PSA increases after 1st Lu-177 (tested before 2nd) and then increases again after 2nd Lu-177 (tested before 3rd)... that it would mean that Lu-177 does not work and I would Not go ahead with 3rd;

- if PSA increases after first Lu, but decreases after 2nd Lu (even if number overall is higher than before 1st Lu), then it means it is working and I would go ahead with 3rd Lu-177.

Said all that, I wish you that your PSA drops after each Lu-177 and you feel pain free soon!
