Does weather affect pain

Good afternoon,

My dad had consult with Dr today about starting Xofigo, now its waiting game, for insurance and then to order medicine, we told him about the increase of pain , and he also suggested that the barmetric pressure can affect the pain. Just curious if anyone else has been told this also.

Also once we start Xofigo , did the radiation have affect on not being around people ? Thanks

Xofigo adds to survival.

Their website warns to double flush and not hold young children on your lap (like grand kids).I start infusions tomorrow. It took only one week to get full OK through VA since I was receiving radiation therapy when application was submitted. Good luck to both of us with Xofigo.

I hope that things improve for your Dad. The question about pain and weather, I would say yes. We are heading into a deep low on the barometer, snow is coming yet again soon and my joints and back ache much more than normal. Damp is another factor, the sun is is much better.

It's just my experience though 🤔

Same for me 100%. Cold damp weather days pain is increased substantially. Warm sunny spring days much reduced.

Warm sunny spring days I ache a lot worse...probably because I am working hours each day in my garden and yard..... Life Is Good and pain lets you know you are still alive...

Quick reply Chris, go to a good old fashioned pharmacy and aso for Black kohosh, it might help.

That helped with mine, and adding Megace did away with them completely. It did negatively influence my driving though so I had to discontinue that drug.....Gabapentin that I take for my neuropathy helps with them too.

People assume that weather (rain, snow, etc) affects the joints and in a way it does. When rains/snows, there are changes in the barometric pressure and that change somehow affects arthritic joints the most. Humidity could be a factor when combined with the change in pressure. When it rains, I'm miserable (two total knee replacements) and shoulder repairs. Is not fun.

That's a very old and probably inconclusive question. When I had arthritic hip pain (before my replacement), it was said that weather affected pain. I never saw any correspondence in my experience; however, 10 other people will likely disagree.

IMHO, don't take that into account. Do whatever gives your dad the best chance of survival.

I find that weather changes affect my sinus and migraine headaches. Changes in barometric pressure turns a stress headache into a migraine headache for me.

I started Xofigo last month. Just got my 2nd injection. I’ve had zero side effects. In fact, while on Xofigo you’ll not be taking any ADT drugs. My mind has cleared from some of the brain fog I had. My safety instructions consist of double flushing and hand washing, and separating my underpants to be washed separately. I’m going today to spend 30 days with my granddaughter. I have no prohibition about being with her in any way. It’s not in my caution sheet, and my docs are well aware that I am going, since they scheduled my injections around this trip. Good luck with your treatments.

I have osteoarthritis and falling barometric pressure / coming rain, snow systems, etc., greatly increase my pain.

Direct hits with snowballs definitely do.............
