It seems that most of us have it to some extent, but most is caused by treatments not the cancer itself.... Damned if you do and damned if you don;t..

In my case I believe that it was caused by blocked stints and a tumor that has invaded the spine. My Rad Onc suggested that it should improve after 10 radiation treatments. Good luck.

In my case it was caused by treatment. First the surgery caused some incontinence then radiation 6 years later made it permanent and a little worse. It’s annoying but I deal with it.

If he has a prostate then possibly in very rare circumstances. But that is just a opinion from my simple mind. I'm not an expert and I don't even know your fathers full history.

I still have my prostate and the urgency to pee is the same as when I started treatment 2 years ago. Its not really incontinence though. It can be if I don't get to the toilet in time.

To help me and others answer your question possibly you could give more information about his treatment and response to treatment so far ?

The prostate is one part of a two part system to hold back urine from the bladder. When you have the prostate removed, you lose part of the ability to retain urine.

The other part is your pelvic floor muscles. Many men need to train these muscles to be stronger.

After RP it took me 7 months of extensive Keegles with many frustrations and doubt to become continent again. With just a little stress incontinence.

Then whole pelvic Salvage took away my continence again. And I was pretty much resigned to light incontinence and light pads again, especially if drinking any alcohol. I went off ADT (Lupron) and my continence improved to my surprise. So ADT makes your muscles week and apparently like alcohol the whole pelvic is also affected.

For now things are better, but I'm now expecting if/when I go back on ADT it will likly get worse again.
